The Spengler Cup 2003 ( French Coupe Spengler 2003 ) was the 77th edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26 to 31, 2003 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The ice rink there served as the venue . A total of 82,173 spectators attended the eleven tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 7,470 per game.

Team Canada won again , winning the tournament with a 7: 4 victory in the final in the new edition of the previous year's final over the hosts HC Davos . In the qualification, the Swiss had won the game with the same result. The Canadians thus defended the title they won last year . It was the tenth title win for Team Canada since 1984 .

The Canadian Éric Landry in the service of HC Davos was the most successful player in the tournament with ten points , including five goals. His teammate, the Russian Oleg Petrov , was named the most valuable player .

mode

The five participating teams initially played in a single round in the " everyone against everyone " mode , so that each team played four games. The two teams with the best points after completing the ten qualifying games finally determined the tournament winner in an additional game.
