Éric Landry (born January 20, 1975 in Gatineau , Québec ) is a former Canadian - American ice hockey player and current - coach , who during his active career for the Calgary Flames and Montréal Canadiens in the National Hockey League as well as for the Lausanne HC , EHC Basel , SC Bern and HC Ambri-Piotta in the Swiss National League A and National League A has played.

Career

Éric Landry began his career as a hockey player with the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser , for which he was active from 1993 to 1995 in the top Canadian junior league Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec . He then played a Lahr for the Cape Breton Oilers and Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League .

On August 20, 1997, the attacker received as a free agent a contract with the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League , for which he made his debut in the NHL in the 1997/98 season , scoring a goal in twelve games. As in the following year, he spent most of the season with their AHL farm team , the Saint John Flames . On July 12, 1999, the left shooter was given in exchange for Fredrik Oduya to the San Jose Sharks , but ran only for their AHL farm team, the Kentucky Thoroughblades . After the season he was hired as a free agent by the Montréal Canadiens , for whom he was on the ice in the following two seasons as well as for their farm team, the Québec Citadelles , from the American Hockey League.

After a season with the Utah Grizzlies in the AHL, Landry went to Europe, where he played from 2003 to 2007 in the Swiss National League A for Lausanne HC , EHC Basel and SC Bern , before joining HK Dynamo Moscow before the 2007/08 season from the Russian Super League , with which he won the Spengler Cup in 2008. In the 2008/09 season he went hunting for goals with the traditional team in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . After another season in the Continental Hockey League, in which Landry was active for Atlant Mytishchi , the striker returned to Switzerland and left there in the following two seasons his active career at the National League A club HC Ambrì-Piotta to end.

For the 2012/13 season Landry was active as an assistant coach of the Gatineau Olympiques from the Québec Major Junior Hockey League.
