Ivan Leonidowitsch Tkachenko ( Russian Иван Леонидович Ткаченко ; born November 9, 1979 in Yaroslavl , Russian SFSR ; † September 7, 2011 in Tunoshna near Yaroslavl) was a Russian ice hockey player who played for Lokomotiv Yaroslavl in the continental hockey league played.
Career
Ivan Tkachenko began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Torpedo Yaroslavl , for whose second team he was active in the second Russian division from 1996 to 1999 - first in the Vysschaya League and in the 1998/99 season in the parallel from Russian Ice Hockey Federation hosted league. In the 1999/2000 season , the winger played mainly for the second division Motor Savolschje , but moved towards the end of the season to Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , for which he was on the ice in the next one and a quarter years in the Superliga , the highest Russian division.
For the 2001/02 season Tkachenko returned to his hometown club in Yaroslavl, which in the meantime had changed its name to Locomotive. With his team he won the Russian championship title straight away in the first season after his return . He was able to repeat this success with a locomotive in the 2002/03 season . In the following years, the national player became an integral part of the Super League team of Lokomotive Yaroslavl, with whom he was runner- up in the 2007/08 season . In the playoff final, he and his team lost to the opponent Salawat Yulayev Ufa in the best-of-five series with 2: 3 wins.
Tkachenko has been playing for Lokomotive Yaroslavl in the newly established Continental Hockey League since the 2008/09 season . In the KHL premier season he and his team reached the playoff final for the Gagarin Cup straight away . In this, however, he and his team had to admit defeat Ak Bars Kazan with 3: 4 wins in the best-of-seven series. In the 2009/10 season , the vice world champion from 2002 acted as the team captain of Lokomotive, in the following season he was replaced in this position by the Czech Karel Rachůnek and became one of the two assistant captains himself. On September 7, 2011, he was killed in a plane crash near Yaroslavl .
After his death, it turned out that he had anonymously donated more than 10 million rubles to seriously ill children during his career. The day before his death, he donated 500,000 rubles.
International
For Russia Tkachenko took part in the 2002 World Cup, where he and his team won the silver medal. In the final, the Russians surprisingly lost 3: 4 to the outsider Slovakia . Subsequently, the vice world champions from 2002 were inducted into the Russian Hockey Hall of Fame . Furthermore, he was in his country's squad for the Euro Hockey Tour in 2003, 2004 and 2006 .
