Daniel Kunce (born July 17, 1971 in Šumperk , Czechoslovakia ) is a former German- Czech ice hockey player who was active in the German ice hockey league for many years , including for the Krefeld Penguins , Nuremberg Ice Tigers and the Frankfurt Lions .

Career

Kunce is of Czech descent and came to ESV Kaufbeuren in 1990 in what was then the 2nd Bundesliga . The defender played the seasons 1990/91 to 1996/97 for Bayern, with whom he was promoted to the ice hockey league in 1991 and with which he also appeared under the new name Kaufbeurer Adler in the German ice hockey league founded in 1994 . In the 1993/94 season Kunce also played a few games for the EC Hedos Munich , but then returned to Kaufbeuren. In his last year for ESV Kaufbeuren, the left-shooter became a German national ice hockey player and took part in a World Cup for the first time in 1996 .

For the 1997/98 season , Daniel Kunce moved to Nuremberg , where he was active in the DEL for the Nuremberg Ice Tigers until 2001 . In 1998 the left shooter also took part in the Winter Olympics for the first time in Nagano .

In 2001 the defender signed a contract with the Krefeld Penguins , with whom he was able to celebrate the German championship title in April 2003 . With the departure of Hans Zach as national ice hockey coach , Daniel Kunce also decided to end his career in the German national ice hockey team before the 2005 World Cup . Overall, Daniel Kunce completed six world championships and two Olympic ice hockey tournaments in the national team.

From the 2008/09 season the defender was in the squad of EV Duisburg , but was loaned by the Frankfurt Lions in December 2008 until the end of the season. After the loan ended, the Lions signed him for the entire 2009-10 season . When the Lions went bankrupt, he ended his career.

In January he briefly returned to the ice when he helped out with the Löwen Frankfurt from the ice hockey league .
