Robert Guillet (born February 22, 1972 in Québec City , Québec ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who was last active in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey at Saint-François de Sherbrooke .

Career

The 180 cm tall and with only 80 kg for an ice hockey player rather light left winger began his career in Longueuil in the Canadian Junior League Québec Major Junior Hockey League . His first junior season in 1989/90, in which he scored 72 points and 32 goals in 69 games for a newcomer, scored excellent statistics, earned him a comparatively high position in the draft. Although he calls the "magic" Six foot height (about 1.83 m) is not reached and thus actually considered "too small" for the National Hockey League is considered, the secured Montreal Canadiens already in the third round of the NHL Entry Draft in 1990 to Position 60 his rights. He continued his junior career for two more years and scored 143 goals and 277 points in a total of 205 games from 1989 to 1992. In addition, his 332 penalty minutes during this period proved that he is also quite ready to play physically.

After a brief stint in the East Coast Hockey League , he quickly played his way into the American Hockey League , where he played 239 games in 4 years from 1992 to 1996. In these he got 89 goals and 178 points. Nevertheless, the Canadiens gave him no chance in the NHL and so he decided to move to Europe. He joined the HC Milano 24 . Here he played in three competitions: In the Italian Serie a he dominated and with 9 goals, 19 points and +20 from 9 games could not only book over 2 points per game, but also a good plus / minus statistics. In the Alpine League he was also one of the dominant players with 33 goals, 59 points and +16 in 39 games and in the European Cup he also knew how to impress with 8 points and 5 goals from 6 games.

As a result, people in Switzerland noticed him and so followed a year in HC Luzern in the National League B , where he again scored almost one goal per game with 39 goals from 40 games (73 points). It went on again for him and the Berlin Capitals secured his services. Here he developed into one of the best and most consistent goalscorers in the German Ice Hockey League - in 154 games over three years he scored 45 goals and 114 points. But after the financial problems of the capital city club, he was forced to change and the Augsburg Panthers took over .

Together with Marc Beaucage , he turned the league upside down and scored 28 goals and 54 points from 55 games. This not only made him top scorer in Augsburg, he also made it into the top 10 of the league scorers and was level with Christoph Brandner . His +/- was also very convincing with +17. This achievement earned him a lucrative contract in Nuremberg and so he moved again. Again he was one of the best scorers, took second place in the team behind Terry Yake and achieved an excellent +22 in the +/- rating. Nevertheless, the Nuremberg team did not extend his contract.

The Krefeld Penguins seized the opportunity and the prospect of being reunited with his friend Marc Beaucage and playing under Butch Goring were the main arguments for signing an annual contract plus KEV option for another season on the Lower Rhine. Together with Marc Beaucage and Éric Bertrand, he formed the most dangerous storm of the penguins. With 40 points from 44 missions, he was not only able to secure second place in the team's internal scorer ranking, but was also the third best scorer in the DEL with 24 shots, immediately behind Dany Bousquet and Daniel Kreutzer . And so those responsible decided not only to take the option, but to give him another two-year contract until 2006 . This was not extended after the expiry and Guillet had to look for a new club.

For the 2006/07 season he moved to the Austrian national ice hockey league for the Graz 99ers . During the 2007/08 season he left the 99ers to move to the Finnish SM-liiga for the rest of the season . There he completed ten league games for the Pelicans Lahti , in which he scored two points scorer. In the 2008/09 season Guillet was active in the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey for the Lois Jeans de Pont-Rouge , the following year he was in action at Saint-François de Sherbrooke .
