Career

DEG, Oberhausen and Kassel (1996–2002)

Daniel Kreutzer began his professional career in the 1996/97 season at Düsseldorfer EG , for which his brother Christof Kreutzer was also active. In his first season, the striker only played 14 games for Düsseldorf and was given a sponsorship license so that he could also gain experience in the second-class first division at EV Duisburg . In his first year, the left-handed shooter scored his first goal in the DEL for the Düsseldorfer EG. In the following year he moved to the ECR Revier Löwen in order to gain more game practice. In 1998/1999 Kreutzer changed clubs again and played for the Kassel Huskies for the next four seasons . Under the huskies and national coach at the time, Hans Zach , Daniel Kreutzer became the German national player. In the 2000/01 season , the attacker scored more than 40 points in a season for the first time (41) and ended the season with a positive plus / minus balance of +9.

Return to DEG (since 2002)

In 2002 Daniel Kreutzer returned to Düsseldorf to the meanwhile renamed DEG Metro Stars, where he got the shirt number 23. In the 2005/06 season he was appointed captain and thus wore the C on the Düsseldorf jersey. His greatest success with DEG was winning the cup in 2006 and the runner-up in 2006 and 2009 . As a personal success, he can claim the unofficial title as the best German scorer of the 2005/06 season, which can be attributed to the good cooperation with his fellow row mates Tore Vikingstad and Klaus Kathan and which was known as KVK as an attack formation . Furthermore, in 2006 he was named the best German in the DEL for the second time since 2004 by the specialist magazine Eishockey News . In 2008 Kreutzer was banned for three months due to several violations of the reporting requirements of the National Anti-Doping Agency .

In November 2009, Kreutzer extended his contract, originally dated until 2010, for three more years to 2013 with lower salaries in order to relieve the club due to the financial difficulties. In the 2010/2011 season , Kreutzer was also able to reach the 50-point mark for the fifth time in the preliminary round. With his 52 scorer points (18 goals), he finished the preliminary round as the fifth most successful player. In December 2014, the left-shooter was once again named best player of the month by Ice Hockey News . In January 2015, he renewed his contract until 2017.

Due to a shoulder injury at the beginning of the season and the following surgery, Kreutzer missed a large part of the 2016/17 season. He also considered an end to his professional career. In June 2017, DEG confirmed the departure from Kreutzer. The end of his playing career was announced in mid-August. At the end of January 2018, he became an assistant trainer on the staff of the Düsseldorfer EG. On February 2, 2018 Daniel Kreutzer's shirt number 23 was hung under the ceiling of the ISS Cathedral, the 23 is no longer available in Düsseldorf.

In March 2018, Kreutzer was appointed to the staff of the German national team as an assistant coach for an international trip to Russia. At the beginning of the 2018/19 season, Kreutzer was hired as head of scouting and member of the sports management in the management of the Düsseldorfer EG.

International

The 201-time national player made his debut on November 5, 1998 against Slovenia (1: 1) in the German national team . The national coach at the time, Hans Zach, also nominated him for the B-World Championship in 1999, in which the German team managed to return to the A group.

He represented the DEB selection at the 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics and at a total of 12 World Championships . Under Zach (1998-2004) and his successor Greg Poss (2004-2005) Kreutzer was a regular on the national team and received nominations for all major tournaments. Under national coach Uwe Krupp (2005-2011) the attacker lost his regular place within the team and had to cancel the 2008 World Cup in Canada for health reasons. In 2010 at the home World Cup in Germany he was nominated by Krupp and reached the semi-finals with his team, where they were eliminated by Russia . In August 2011, Kreutzer finally announced his resignation from the national team.
