The Spengler Cup 1989 ( French Coupe Spengler 1989 ) was the 63rd edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26th to 31st, 1989 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The ice rink there served as the venue .

It was won by HK Spartak Moscow , who won the tournament with a 5-3 victory in the final over Färjestad BK . They had already defeated the Swedes 4: 3 in qualifying. It was Spartak's fourth tournament success after 1980 , 1981 and 1985 . The host HC Davos took part in the tournament for the last time for the next three years.

mode

The five participating teams initially played in a single round in the " everyone against everyone " mode , so that each team played four games. The two teams with the best points after completing the ten qualifying games finally determined the tournament winner in an additional game.
