The Spengler Cup 2017 ( French Coupe Spengler 2017 ) was the 91st edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26 to 31, 2017 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The local Vaillant Arena acted as the venue . A total of 68,681 spectators attended the eleven tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 6,243 per game.

Team Canada won again , winning the tournament with a 3-0 victory in the final over the Swiss national ice hockey team. For the Canadians it was the third victory in a row at the Spengler Cup and the 15th title win since 1984 . They drew level with the previous record winner HC Davos .

The Canadian Maxim Noreau was the most successful player in the tournament with seven points , including two goals.

mode

The six participating teams initially played in two preliminary round groups - named after the Davos ice hockey legends Richard Torriani and the Cattini brothers Ferdinand and Hans - three teams each in a single round in the " everyone against everyone " mode , so that each team initially played two games Placements based on points. The two group winners qualified directly for the semifinals, while the second and third placed in a knockout duel played off the other two semifinals. The two semi-final winners finally determined the tournament winner on the final day.
