Olivier Bellavance-Roy (* 12. July 1991 in Causapscal , Quebec ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who in since November 2017 Augsburger Panther in the DEL plays.
Career
Olivier Roy was in Canadian youth and junior teams from Causapscal, Rivière-du-Loup , Sydney and Bathurst , where he played with the Screaming Eagles and the Bathurst Titans in the top junior league QMJHL . In 2008 he achieved a catch rate of 91.4% in the play-offs, came to the league's all-rookie team and was named QMJHL Rookie of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year. He was also selected for the all-rookie team by the junior league umbrella organization CHL .
In 2009 he was picked in the fifth round by the NHL team Edmonton Oilers and played for their farm teams , the Springfield Falcons and the Oklahoma City Barons , in the AHL . At the Junior World Championships in 2011 he won the silver medal in the top division with the Canadian team. He also received assignments in the ECHL , where he won the Kelly Cup with the Alaska Aces in 2014 , and was selected as goalkeeper for the Idaho Steelheads in the ECHL All-Star Game in 2015. He achieved his best catch result to date in the 2012/13 season for Stockton Thunder , when he reached a rate of 96.1% in the main round.
In 2015 he was signed by the Slovenian club HDD Olimpija Ljubljana from the EBEL , won the Slovenian championship with the team and achieved a catch rate of 98.8% in the play-offs. The Laibacher were unsuccessful in the EBEL, but Roy scored 91.8% in the main round. After the season, Roy was signed by the Austrian EBEL club EC VSV from Villach . After a year in Villach, Roy switched to the Eispiraten Crimmitschau in the second German division, the DEL2, for the 2017/18 season . With the ice pirates he showed excellent performances and contributed significantly to the sporting success. Therefore, it became interesting for higher-class clubs and was "lured away" by the Augsburg Panthers in November 2017 .
