David Stieler (born July 20, 1988 in Kladno , Czechoslovakia ) is a German - Czech ice hockey player who has been playing for the Augsburger Panther as a center in the German ice hockey league since the 2016/17 season .

Career

David Stieler began his career in the junior teams of HC Kladno , who is known for his good youth work and has already produced NHL leaders such as Jaromír Jágr , Patrik Eliáš and Tomáš Kaberle . In 2006 the attacking player won the Czech junior championship in this age group with the U-20 selection of his home club, among others together with the later NHL legionnaires Michael Frolík , Jakub Voráček and Jiří Tlustý . Like so many from the successful team, he tried to prove himself in North America. After two years with the Swift Current Broncos from the Canadian Junior League WHL , Stieler returned to Kladno. In the three following years, the HC Kladno team fought to stay in the Extraliga . Every time you could prevail in the relegation. In the 2011/12 season, Stieler moved to league rivals BK Mladá Boleslav . However, the relegation could not be avoided in this game year at his new club. In the decisive relegation series they lost 3: 4 against Piráti Chomutov . The center then decided to move to neighboring Slovakia . In the Extraliga of the same name , he was on the ice for HK 36 Skalica for two years before the Czech joined EV Regensburg from the German league to prove himself in Germany, although according to the sporting director of EV Regensburg Martin Ančička he has potential could have played in the Czech extra league. Furthermore, the former German national ice hockey player describes Stieler as a very good skater who is also very technically versed .

In 2015 he received German citizenship and then switched to the DEL2 to the Fischtown Pinguins . In 56 games for Bremerhaven during the 2015/16 season, Stieler scored 27 goals and 30 assists. In April 2016 he was signed by the Augsburg Panthers from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).
