Martin Ančička (born October 1, 1974 in Kladno , Czechoslovakia ) is a former German - Czech ice hockey player ( defender ) who was active in the DEL for the German national ice hockey team and the Adler Mannheim and Nuremberg Ice Tigers . Most recently he played for EV Regensburg in the Oberliga Süd , later worked there as a sports consultant and now runs the sports agency ISMA.
Career
Martin Ančička grew up in his hometown Kladno and started playing ice hockey there. In 1993, the offensive defender at Poldi Kladno received his first appearances in the Czech extra league . Until 1997, however, he was only used sporadically in the 1st team. So Ančička decided to move to the third-class German 2nd League South to EV Regensburg , where he made his breakthrough in the first season with 78 points from 50 games. Another year followed in Regensburg with similar success and in 1999 the move to Bietigheim-Bissingen . There the defender played his weakest season to date and went to Heilbronn EC after only one year . Although his values improved again in the 2000/01 season , but since he missed the play-offs with the team , the left-shooter moved back to Bietigheim.
After a season with the Steelers, Martin Ančička returned to Regensburg, where he played again from 2002 to 2006. In the seasons 2004/05 and 2005/06 as well as in the play-offs 2005 he was each point-best defender. For the 2006/07 season , the defender accepted a contract offer from Adler Mannheim from the DEL for the following two seasons. In his first year with the eagles, Ančička won the German championship with the team . For the 2008/09 season , the native Czech moved to league rivals Nürnberg Ice Tigers . On December 29, 2010, however, he arranged for the immediate termination of his contract with the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers and was presented on December 30 as a new addition to EV Regensburg . After the 2012/13 season, Ančička ended his active career. His shirt number 27 is no longer given in his honor by EV Regensburg.
International
Martin Ančička was invited to the national team for the first time in 2006 while still under contract with the second division Eisbären Regensburg by national coach Uwe Krupp and was also used at the Division I World Championship in Amiens , where he made promotion with the team. In 2007 he played at the A-WM in Moscow. Before the 2009 World Cup, Ančička played all preparatory games, but was not nominated for the tournament. As a result, Ančička announced his resignation from the national team. He made a total of 48 international matches for Germany.
