Steffen Tölzer (born June 12, 1985 in Zittau ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League since 2000 .

Career

The 1.85 m tall defender began his career in the youth teams of ESV Pinguine Königsbrunn before moving to the school team of the neighboring Augsburg EV in 1999 . After he had played for the junior team Augsburger Jungpanther , the left shooter also ran for the first time for the professionals, the Augsburger Panthers , in the DEL in the 2003/04 season . In the following years Tölzer commuted between the Panthers and the cooperation partners EC Peiting from the Oberliga and EV Landsberg , with whom he was promoted from the Oberliga to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2006.

Since the 2006/07 season , the defender has been regularly on the ice for the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League. In January 2013 he completed his 400th DEL game for the Augsburg Panthers. In the 2014/15 season he became the captain ("C") of the panthers.

In March 2020 he resigned his captaincy. The reason was a private argument as part of the Munich Oktoberfest in September 2019. After a private excursion to the Oktoberfest at the Donnersbergerbrücke station in Munich, Tölzer got into an initially verbal and then physical argument. In this he had "hurt a man in the affect". As a result, a penalty order was issued against Tölzer.

International

So far, Steffen Tölzer has played four games for the German national team , and he also took part in the 2005 Junior World Championship with the U20 national team.
