Patrick McNeill (born March 17, 1987 in Strathroy , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Augsburg Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League since 2018 .

Career

Patrick McNeill won the gold medal at the World Hockey Challenge in 2003/04 with the Canadian U17 team of Ontario. He played at that time and until 2007 in the Canadian training league OHL, the Saginaw Spirit had drafted him in the first place.

In 2005 he was selected in the 4th round of the NHL Entry Draft at number 118 by the Washington Capitals . From 2007 he played in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays , parallel and until 2013 then exclusively for the Hershey Bears (AHL). With these he won the league title twice (Calder Cup, 2009 and 2010).

After further years in the AHL and contracts with the NHL clubs Washington, Columbus and Arizona, he moved to ERC Ingolstadt in June 2015 . In his first DEL season he was the top defender in the league with 39 points. In 2018 he switched to the Augsburger Panthers within the DEL .

McNeill is a Canadian national ice hockey player. Among other things, he took part in the Deutschland Cup 2016 and was also used for the maple leaves as part of the Olympic sighting.
