The Spengler Cup 2006 ( French Coupe Spengler 2006 ) was the 80th edition of the competition of the same name and took place from December 26 to 31, 2006 in the Swiss climatic health resort of Davos . The local Vaillant Arena acted as the venue . A total of 74,539 spectators attended the eleven tournament games, which corresponds to an average of 6,776 per game.

The winner was the host HC Davos , who won the tournament with a 3-2 victory in the final over Team Canada . In the qualification, the Canadians had clearly won the game 6: 3. For the HCD, who had only qualified for the final because of the direct comparison against the Mora IK , it was the 14th title win and the fourth in the last seven years. As in the previous year, Team Canada was subject to the second-placed team in the preliminary round.

The Czech Pavel Brendl in the service of Mora IK was the most successful player in the tournament with seven points , including four goals.

mode

The five participating teams initially played in a single round in the " everyone against everyone " mode , so that each team played four games. The two teams with the best points after completing the ten qualifying games finally determined the tournament winner in an additional game.
