Eero Somervuori (born February 7, 1979 in Järvenpää ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who has been under contract with HPK Hämeenlinna in the Liiga since June 2014 .
Career
Eero Somervuori comes from the offspring of the Finnish first division club Jokerit , for whom he went through the youth teams and made his debut in the SM-liiga in 1995/96 . He was selected in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the seventh round in 170th place, but has never played in the NHL. Instead, he remained loyal to his hometown club until 2000 and played in over 180 top division games for Jokerit, as well as several times in the European Hockey League .
He then played for three years at HPK Hämeenlinna , where he developed into a top scorer. He spent the 2003/04 season for the first time not in Finland, but with the Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League . But only a year later he moved back to the SM-liiga to Oulun Kärpät , for whom 45 points scored in 68 games. In the summer of 2005 Eero Somervuori was then committed by HC Ambrì-Piotta , but he could only play 21 games in the NLA due to a shoulder injury . In the following NLA season it went better for him, he scored 48 scorer points in 51 games. Especially in the playouts he was in top form, which he scored four goals in the last game of the series against EHC Basel . After the season for the Ambrì was over, he played the NLB final and the league qualification with EHC Biel . For the 2007/08 season Eero Somervuori moved to Färjestad BK , with whom he won the Swedish championship in 2009. This was followed by an engagement at Brynäs IF . There the Finn was set as a regular player for two seasons before his contract was not extended after the 2010/11 season . In May 2011 he was signed by Helsingfors IFK , for whom he played in the Liiga until the end of the 2013/14 season.
Since June 2014 he has been under contract again with Hämeenlinnan Pallokerho (HPK).
