Kamil Piroš (born November 20, 1978 in Most , Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech ice hockey player . In the National Hockey League he completed a total of 42 games for the Atlanta Thrashers and the Florida Panthers . He also played for the Kölner Haie ( DEL ), Chimik Moskowskaja Oblast , Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk (both Super League ), HV71 ( Elitserien ) and HC Verva Litvínov in the Czech Extra League .

Career

Kamil Piroš began his career in the youth department of SK HC Baník Most , the second division club based in his hometown. From the 1993/94 season, the center played in the highest Czech youth and junior league for HC Chemopetrol Litvínov , for whose first team he was active in the Extraliga from 1996 to 2001 . For the 2001/02 season , Piroš, who had been selected by the Buffalo Sabers in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft , moved to North America. Since the Sabers had already lost the rights to him again, the left shooter joined the Atlanta Thrashers . However, the Czech only played 25 games in the NHL in the following three seasons and spent most of the time in the Thrashers' farm team , the Chicago Wolves in the AHL . There he succeeded in 2002 - together with his current Cologne teammate Bryan Adams - his only title win so far, when he defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers with the Wolves 4-1 in the final of the Calder Cup (championship cup of the AHL).

Even after his move to the Florida Panthers in exchange for Kyle Rossiter during the 2003/04 season to Piroš could not prevail in the NHL and changed why in 2004 in the Russian Super League , where he one season for Chimik Moskovskaya Oblast and HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk on Ice cream stand. During the 2006/07 season he was for the EV train in the Swiss National League A active. In the summer of 2007 Piroš signed a two-year contract with the Cologne Sharks from the DEL . In January 2009 he got the clearance due to financial problems of the sharks and moved to HV 71 Jönköping in Sweden . In June 2009 he was signed by the Ässät Pori . After 22 games for the Ässät in the SM-liiga, Piroš moved back to the Elitserien for Timrå IK in November 2009 . For the 2010/11 season he returned to HV 71 Jönköping.

From summer 2012 Piroš played in the Continental Hockey League for Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg before he was released from his contract in November of the same year. A few days later, he was signed by his hometown club and won the Czech championship title with HC Verva Litvínov in April 2015 . After another season in Litvínov, he ended his career in 2016.
