Domenic Pittis (* 1. October 1974 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player , who among other things for the Kloten Flyers , the ZSC Lions and EV train in the Swiss National League A played. His younger brother Jonathan was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Pittis played during his junior years with the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Western Hockey League and was selected in the second round in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins as 52nd.

He began his professional career in the International Hockey League . First he played for the Cleveland Lumberjacks , later for the Long Beach Ice Dogs . In the 1996/97 season he made his debut in the NHL with a game for the Penguins. After a season with the Syracuse Crunch in the American Hockey League , he signed as a free agent with the Buffalo Sabers . Again, he only managed three games. Most of the time he was in the AHL with Rochester Americans . Although he was the best scorer in the AHL, he did not make a breakthrough in the NHL. From the summer of 2000 he played with the Edmonton Oilers exclusively in the NHL. He missed a large part of the 2001/02 season with a head injury. Even after his move to the Nashville Predators , another head injury threw him out of the race. So there were also deployments in the AHL with the Milwaukee Admirals .

After he was mostly used in the AHL in Rochester after his return to the Buffalo Sabers, he decided to move to Europe. Since then he has been on the ice for the Kloten Flyers . His contract with Kloten ran until the 2009/10 season, but he canceled it prematurely on January 8, 2008. Three days later, on January 11th, it was announced that he was going to join cantonal rivals, the ZSC Lions . After he had won the championship twice and the Victoria Cup once with the city of Zurich , he did not receive a new contract and moved to the NLB to the EHC Visp . In the playoffs of the 2012/13 season Pittis was loaned to EV Zug until the end of the season, but then decided not to return to Vispern and thus ended his professional career. Pittis then moved back to his native Canada, where he currently works as a technical trainer and scout for the Calgary Flames .

In 2006, 2007 and 2010 the 1.80 m tall Canadian played for Team Canada at the Spengler Cup in Davos .
