Sven Günther "Felle" Felski (born November 18, 1974 in Berlin ) is a German ice hockey trainer and official as well as a former German ice hockey player ( striker ), who was under contract with the Eisbären Berlin from the German ice hockey league from 1992 to 2012 . He is a member of the Ice Hockey Hall of Fame Germany .

Career

Felski in the jersey of the Eisbären Berlin (2012).

Sven Felski was born in East Berlin . In the course of his career as a player he was only active in Berlin and came from the offspring of SC Dynamo Berlin . There he started figure skating and then switched to ice hockey at the age of eleven. From the 1992/93 season he was a member of the professional squad of Eisbären Berlin , the successor club to SC dynamo. He started there with the shirt number 10 because the 11 was taken. A season later he took over the number 11, with which he was active until the end of his career.

In the 1992/93 season he played for the first time for the professional team of his home club in the ice hockey Bundesliga . He remained active with the Berliners, who renamed themselves EHC Eisbären Berlin in the summer of 1991, until the team was outsourced to "EHC Eisbären Berlin Management GmbH" in 1999. Even after the outsourcing to the GmbH and the takeover by the Anschutz Group , the attacker remained in the team and was one of the top performers until the end of his career due to his commitment and his player qualities.

Felski played 1000 games (5th game DEL final 2012 ) in the DEL and the 1st ice hockey Bundesliga and was German champion six times with the Eisbären ( 2005 , 2006 , 2008 , 2009 , 2011 and 2012 ). He also took part in the DEL All-Star Game in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 . At European level, he won the first edition of the European Trophy in 2010 with the polar bears .

On October 29, 2012, Sven Felski announced his retirement from professional sport. This decision was made on the advice of his doctors, as his left knee was very battered after 20 years of professional career. His shirt number will no longer be given after his departure. On August 10, 2013 his farewell game between the polar bear all-stars and a selection of the German national team took place in the Wellblechpalast . Felski played 30 minutes in both teams.

International

For the GDR Felski only took part in the U18 Junior C European Championship in 1990 . For Germany he took part in the junior division of the U18 European Junior Championships in 1991 and 1992 and the Junior World Championships in 1993 and 1994 . He also played for Germany at the B World Championships in 1999 and 2006 and at the A World Championships in 1998 , 2001 , 2003 , 2005 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 and 2010 . He was also in his country's squad at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and 2010 in Vancouver , as well as qualifying for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City .

Others

Felski is the player with the most games (924) and penalty minutes (1812) as well as the second most goals (225), assists (352) and scorer points (577) in the history of the Eisbären Berlin since its existence in the DEL. With 1812 penalty minutes, he is also the league record holder in this category.

Felski has lived with his wife for several years and they have a daughter. In 2011 he published the book Tore, Spiele, Meistertitel . From October 2013, Sven Felski presented a weekly sports program on the radio station Berliner Rundfunk 91.4 .
