Patrick Ehelechner (born September 23, 1984 in Rosenheim ) is a former German ice hockey goalkeeper who was active in the German ice hockey league for the Hannover Scorpions , the Füchsen Duisburg , the Nürnberg Ice Tigers and the Augsburg Panthers , among others . Since the end of his career he has worked as a TV expert, presenter, commentator and ice hockey goalkeeping coach, among other things.
Career
Ehelechner's career began in 1991 at the sports association DJK Rosenheim . For the 2000/01 season , the goalie moved to the Adler Mannheim , then from 2001 he played for the Hannover Scorpions , where he went down as the youngest starting goalie in the history of the German Ice Hockey League at the age of 17 . After he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2003 by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round as 139th, Patrick Ehelechner moved to Canada. There the goalkeeper played for the Sudbury Wolves in the Canadian Junior League OHL . At the beginning of the 2005/06 season , the Bavarian returned to the DEL to Adler Mannheim, but because he was only used there as the third goalkeeper, Ehelechner moved to EV Duisburg in October 2005 . The North American rights to matrimonial computers were secured by the Pittsburgh Penguins in July 2006 as part of an exchange deal with San Jose . In April 2007, his new employer, Vice-Champion Nürnberg Ice Tigers, announced the engagement of Ehelechners. After five years with the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers, the Rosenheimer left Franconia in 2012 and switched to league competitor Augsburger Panther, where the goalie stayed until 2014. In June 2014, Ehelechner was signed by the DEL2 club Starbulls Rosenheim . On September 4, 2015, he announced the end of his career.
After his TV internship at Red Bull Media House ( ServusTV ) from 2015 to 2016, he has been an ice hockey expert and commentator at Telekom / Magenta Sport since the 2016/17 season, and Ehelechner also works as an ice hockey goalkeeper coach. At the Olympic Games in 2018 he was part of the reporting staff at the television station Eurosport .
