Erich "Rick" Alfons Goldmann (born April 7, 1976 in Dingolfing ) is a former German ice hockey player who completed ten seasons in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) and played one game in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Career
Goldmann played his first game as a professional for EV Landshut in the Bundesliga at the age of 17. This was followed by two DEL years for Adler Mannheim and one for Kaufbeuren Adler . After he was selected in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators at position 212, Goldmann moved to the AHL in Worcester in 1997 . But because he could n't really assert himself in North America , he returned to Germany three years later.
There he played first for the mosquitoes food , after their financial failure for the newly promoted ERC Ingolstadt . In 2003 he was hired by the Iserlohn Roosters , where he was one of the leading players. In 2005, he suffered a severe foot injury that put him out of action from January to August. After the 2006/07 season he ended his DEL career to work in medical management in Munich. In his 500th and last DEL game, he wore the shirt number 500 with a special permit.
On June 8, 2007, Goldmann and the EHC Munich announced that Goldmann had signed a two-year contract with the EHC Munich. But after just one season he ended his career due to an injury. Goldmann, who studied medical management during his ice hockey career, then founded two physiotherapy practices in Munich. In the practices, among other things, many athletes are z. B. also looks after ice hockey players, basketball players and football players.
On May 28, 2011 Goldmann was inducted into the Hall of Fame of German ice hockey .
Sports commentator
Since 2008 he has appeared regularly as an expert and TV commentator on ice hockey broadcasts on Sport1 , Telekom Sport and ServusTV .
As part of the ice hockey world championship in 2008 , the German sports television DSF , today Sport1 , signed the 180-time German national player who commented on the games shown on German television alongside Marc Hindelang . He also took on this role at the 2009 World Championships in Switzerland, 2010 in Germany, 2011 in Slovakia and 2012 and 2013 in Finland and Sweden. Furthermore, Goldmann has been regularly active since 2012 as a TV expert and commentator on the broadcasts of the games of the German Ice Hockey League on Sport1 and the Erste Bank Ice Hockey League on ServusTV .
Goldmann commented together with Sebastian Schwele and Sascha Bandermann on the games of the Ice Hockey World Championship 2017 on Sport 1 . As part of this event, the nomination for the German television award in the "Best Sports Show" category took place in early 2017.
