Wellblechpalast has also officially been the name of Hall 1 of the artificial ice stadium in the Hohenschönhausen Sportforum in Berlin since October 7, 2001 , which was home to the Eisbären Berlin ice hockey team until the end of the 2007/08 DEL season . The junior teams and, since 2017, the women's team of Eisbären Juniors Berlin , the Berlin ice skating club and some hobby teams continue to play in the hall today, the hall is also partly used by the upper division FASS Berlin . The Corrugated Iron Palace is also the venue for speed skating - and Ice Speedway Competitions.

The operator of the stadium, which was completed in 1964, is the city of Berlin .

The name “Wellblechpalast” was initially coined by a journalist rather disparagingly. In the 1990s, this designation gained more and more fans, before the hall officially received its name on October 7, 2001.

International tournaments

The ice hockey teams of the SC Dynamo Berlin and later the Eisbären Berlin organized various tournaments with international participation in the Wellblechpalast. In addition, the IIHF -U18- European Championship took place here from April 9th ​​to 16th, 1995 , at which the German team surprisingly became vice-European champion.

From October 6th to 8th, 2006 the group C preliminary round of the IIHF European Women Champions Cup 2006 (EWCC) took place in the Wellblechpalast , and from November 30th to December 2nd, 2007 the EWCC 2007/08 intermediate round was held under the responsibility of the OSC Berlin instead. In the 2009/10 season of the European Women Champions Cup, the intermediate round group E took place from December 4 to 6, 2009 in the Wellblechpalast, and the final tournament was also held there from March 12 to 14, 2010.

In February 2020, a DEB U19-5 national tournament took place in the hall.
