Andy Roach (born August 22, 1973 in Mattawan , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player who last played in the DEL for the DEG Metro Stars .

Career

The 1.81 m tall defender began his career with the Waterloo Black Hawks in the American junior league USHL and the NCAA team at Ferris State University before moving to the San Antonio Dragons in the International Hockey League in 1997 .

Further stations in this minor league were the Long Beach Ice Dogs and the Utah Grizzlies until 1999 , when the left-handed shooter signed a contract with the German first division club Krefeld Pinguine . After a year at KEV, Roach moved to Adler Mannheim , with whom he became German champion in 2001 and for whom he was on the ice until 2004 . Via Lausanne HC , the American moved to the St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League for the 2005/06 season . There he was only used five times and returned to the ZSC Lions in the Swiss National League A during the same season . From 2006 Roach played four years for the Eisbären Berlin, with whom he was able to celebrate two DEL championships in a row in 2008 and 2009. In August 2010, the defender moved to league competitor DEG Metro Stars . After a strong season in which the veteran made it into the top 10 defenders of the 2010/2011 season according to the expert panel of Ice Hockey News, his contract was prematurely extended for another year. The decisive factor was the number of points of the three-time German champions of 39 points out of 10 hits.
