Diego Maroto (* 1617 in Trujillo , Peru , † 1696 in Lima ) was a Peruvian architect and Dominican. He was the most important master builder in Lima in the second half of the 17th century.

As Maestro Mayor de Fabricas de la Catedral Metropolitana (Supervisor of the building sites of the Cathedral of Lima ), Supervisor of the building trade guilds of Lima and Maestro Mayor de las Fabricas Reales (Supervisor of the royal building sites) he held the most important positions in the building industry of Lima for over four decades inside.

As an architect for the Dominican Order, he developed an earthquake-proof dome construction that was copied in all reconstruction projects in the church environment in Lima after the great earthquake of 1687, for example in the ribbed vaults of the Cathedral of Lima and in the Augustinian monastery of San Agustín el Grande.
