Dieter Amann (born October 21, 1958 in Hohenems ) is a former Austrian ski racer . His greatest success was winning the downhill classification in the European Cup in the 1979/80 season .

Career

Amann started skiing at an early age and was supported accordingly by his father Rolf, a member of the Hohenems ski club and later president of the Vorarlberg Ski Association. He completed his school education at the sports school in Dornbirn and then at the ski school in Stams . In 1979 Amann was accepted into the B-squad of the Austrian Ski Association and in the following winter he made regular appearances in the European Cup . With two victories in the two downhill runs from Haus , a second place in Laax and a third place in Pila , Amann won the downhill classification in the European Cup in the 1979/80 season . From the winter of 1980/81 he started in the World Cup , but never reached the points and would therefore have been relegated to the European Cup team. But Amann decided in 1981 to end his career.
