Dieter Bach (theologian)

Dieter Bach (born August 28, 1932 in Duisburg ) is a German Protestant theologian.

Bach studied theology and education. From 1960 to 1972 he worked as a pastor in a parish in the Hunsrück. In 1972 he took over the management of the Evangelical Adult Education Center Rhineland-South. In 1981 he moved to the Evangelical Academy in Mülheim an der Ruhr as director and was temporarily chairman of the Evangelical Academies in Germany (EAD). After his retirement he worked as a consultant for the Evangelical Academy in Görlitz.

In addition to the academy management, the exchange and reconciliation work with the Eastern European countries Poland and Russia were the focus of his work. Thanks to his initiative, the Rhenish Church Synod passed important resolutions on reconciliation with the then Soviet Union. This resulted in the establishment of a center for mentally and multiply disabled people in the city of Pskow .
