Dieter Emeis

Dieter Emeis (* 1933 in Flensburg ) is a German theology professor .

Emeis received his doctorate as Dr. rer. nat. and Dr. theol. and since 1975 was professor for pastoral theology and catechetics at the University of Münster . At the end of the summer semester of 1998 he retired and became pastor of a small community on the outskirts of Osnabrück. The Osnabrück bishop Franz-Josef Bode appointed him honorary canon of the Osnabrück cathedral chapter. In 2003 he took over a professorship at the University of Halle . His students include Manfred Belok and Hermann Kochanek . Emeis is also the doctoral supervisor of Franz-Peter Tebartz-van Elst. Until January 2019, he regularly celebrated services in the chapel at Gut Leye .
