Dieter Fechner

Dieter Fechner (* 1936 in Sorau / Niederlausitz ) is a German non-fiction author.

Dieter Fechner has lived in Mühlhausen / Thuringia since 1946 . He attended the Institute for Teacher Training in Erfurt from 1953 to 1957 and then taught in Lengefeld in the Mühlhausen district until 1968 . From 1966 to 1970 he completed a distance learning course in German language and literature at the Erfurt University of Education . From 1968 to 1990 he worked as a subject teacher and for nine years as deputy director in Bickenriede im Eichsfeld . In addition, he devoted himself to regional history topics. After 1990 he worked as a local chronicle in Lengefeld, several parts of the extensive local chronicle .

Since the mid-1970s, Fechner has published reviews and articles on fiction in newspapers and magazines, such as " German Lessons ", " Marginalia ", " New German Literature ", " Weimar Contributions ", " Weltbühne ", " Der Literat ", " Palmbaum ", " Moment " and " RotFuchs ".

Fechner has been dealing with the Mühlhausen regional history since the beginning of the 1990s . Multi-part series appeared in the daily press, such as: “Famous Mühlhäuser” (30 parts), “Mühlhausen Musicians” (20), “Mühlhausen Sculptures” (23), “Churches in the Altkreis” (52), “Landgasthöfe” (17), "Mühlhausen local researchers, chroniclers and archivists" (18), "On the library system in Mühlhausen" (18), "Literary Mühlhausen" (66) and "Mühlhausen painters" (50). From August 1966 to November 2000, Fechner worked on the series “Houses in Mühlhausen”, which appeared in 200 full-page parts in the “Thuringian State Newspaper” (regional section Mühlhausen). In subsequent episodes, Fechner devoted himself to the contacts of famous personalities in Mühlhausen, such as Johann Sebastian Bach (16 parts), Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (10), Friedrich August Stüler (5) and Queen Luise of Prussia (7). Contributions to the Mühlhausen regional history of Fechner are available in magazines in: "Eichsfelder Heimathefte", "Mühlhausen contributions", "Thüringer Museumhefte" and "Neue Thüringer Illustrierte".
