Dieter Finke (sculptor)

Dieter Finke (born March 10, 1939 in Berlin ; † May 8, 2011 there ) was a German sculptor .

Career

From 1959 to 1961 he studied sculpture at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Berlin with Paul Dierkes , from 1961 to 1965 with Renée Sintenis , and since 1964 as a master student . In 1965 he received a scholarship from the Villa Serpentara in Olevano, Rome. In 1967 he received the Georg Kolbe Prize . In 1976 the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam invited him to work as a guest. A year later, in 1977, he received a guest studio at PS1 in New York. Since 1974 Dieter Finke lived and worked alternately in Berlin and New York.
