Dieter Kriegbaum

Dieter Kriegbaum (born July 16, 1945 ) is a former German soccer player who was active in GDR soccer in the 1960s and 1970s .

Athletic career

At the company sports community (BSG) Motor Süd Brandenburg , Dieter Kriegbaum was initially active as a young player. From 1963 he played with the first team in the third-rate district league Potsdam and won the district championship with BSG Motor in 1966. Since his team missed promotion to the GDR league , Kriegbaum completed two more seasons for Motor Süd in the district league.

For the 1968/69 season, Kriegbaum moved to the district league competitor and local rival BSG Stahl Brandenburg . With BSG Stahl he was again district champion in 1970, played all four promotion games and scored three of the five goals that led to promotion to the GDR league. In the next higher league, Kriegbaum had no adjustment problems from the start. In his first league season in 1970/71 he played all 26 games and was immediately top scorer of his team with eleven goals. He was able to repeat this triumph in 1972 and 1973 with seven and eight goals respectively. By 1975 he was called up in 125 league games in 121 matches and was BSG Stahl's top scorer with 48 goals during this time.

After completing the first half of the 1975/76 season, the 30-year-old Kriegbaum joined the GDR league team BSG Einheit Wernigerode . In the second half of the season he was used four times in the remaining nine league games and acted as a goalscorer twice. In 1976/77 he was a regular player in the BSG unit with 19 league appearances, for which he scored another six goals. In the summer of 1977 Dieter Kriegbaum started his last season as a competitive athlete. He was only used in six league games and scored one last goal of his career.

In his footballer career he had played 150 GDR league games within eight seasons and was successful with 57 goals.
