Dieter Renz (born March 3, 1943 in Bottrop , † August 16, 1969 ) was an amateur boxer who took part in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City .

Dieter Renz was a trained locksmith.

Sporting highlights

In his only participation in the Olympics, Renz, who played for the German boxing team, reached the second round. He was clearly defeated by the Italian Giorgio Bambini on points.

In August 1968 Dieter Renz defeated the eventual Olympic and heavyweight world champion George Foreman in an international match between the Federal Republic of Germany and the USA in Hanover . Foreman was disqualified.

death

On August 16, 1969, Renz had a fatal accident at the age of 26 in the Swiss Alps . While hiking in the mountains, he slipped and fell into a ravine.

Honors
