Life

After graduating from high school at the Max-Ernst-Gymnasium Brühl, Spürck initially studied administrative science as part of his training as a district inspector candidate , which he graduated in 1989 with a degree in administrative management . Then he worked as an administrative officer in the Rhein-Erft district and most recently in 1990/91 in the personnel department of the Cologne University Hospital . He completed his subsequent law studies at the University of Cologne in 1995 with the state examination and the legal preparatory service in the area of the Cologne Regional Court in 1998 with the 2nd state examination. From 1998 to 2004 he worked as a lawyer . Until 2012 he worked as an alderman at the municipal administration in Weilerswist . In 2012 he moved to the city administration of Kerpen and in June 2013 became social affairs officer and treasurer . At the same time he was most recently the first deputy general representative of the then mayor Marlies Sieburg .

Spürck was elected in the municipal election (mayoral election) in Kerpen on September 13, 2015 with 57.64% of the votes cast, i.e. with an absolute majority.

On April 10, 2019, the public prosecutor's office in Cologne had Spürck's premises in the town hall in Kerpen and private premises searched. It was about the suspicion of bribery in the context of a building permit around the Villa Trips. In addition to other advertisements, Spürck had also reported himself. Despite his candidacy, the process has not yet been completed.

At the end of January 2020, Spürck announced that he no longer wanted to run for the office of mayor. As a reason he cited threats in the course of his work, the "increasing brutality in the whole society" and the resulting fear for his family. In the entire reporting, as well as in a speech by Prime Minister Armin Laschet to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia , in which he addressed the alleged threats against Spürck, the allegations of corruption played no role.

In contrast to earlier statements, Spürck announced in June 2020 that he wanted to run for the office of mayor again.
