Dieter Weiß (soccer player)

Dieter Weiß (born March 23, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player. For SC Turbine / FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

Until 1964 Dieter Weiß played at SG Dynamo Erfurt , most recently in the third-class district league . At the beginning of the 1964/65 season he was delegated to the league relegated SC Turbine Erfurt, where he played 28 of 30 point games in the GDR league , scored six goals and thus contributed significantly to the immediate resurgence of the Erfurt. In his first league season in 1965/66 he was able to maintain his regular place as a defender with 24 completed point games. In the course of the season, the soccer section of SC Turbine was converted into FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, which was relegated to the GDR league again at the end of the season. It succeeded again the immediate return to the league, white was involved in all 30 league games. Subsequently, the FC Rot-Weiß was able to consolidate in the league, and white also remained the club's regular defender until 1971. When Rot-Weiß Erfurt had to compete in the GDR league again in 1971/72 after further relegation, white was only there with four league matches. He then ended his career in high-class football at the age of 30. There he had spent eight seasons and completed 104 games in the Oberliga (no goals) and 62 games in the GDR League (6 goals).
