Dieter Zapf

Dieter Zapf (born July 13, 1955 ) is a German psychologist and professor of work and organizational psychology at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .

Life

After graduating from high school, Zapf began studying Protestant theology at the Augustana University in Neuendettelsau . He completed an additional course in psychology in 1980 with a diploma from the Free University of Berlin , and passed the exam in theology in 1983. From 1981 to 1987 he worked at the Free University of Berlin, among other things on research projects on stress at work. In 1988 he received his doctorate with a comparative thesis on methods of self-observation and observation of others in industrial psychology. From 1987 he investigated errors in human-computer interaction , initially in a research project at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , and from 1991 as a research assistant to Michael Frese at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen ; in his habilitation thesis from 1993 he also devoted himself to this topic.

After a substitute professorship at Bielefeld University , he became a professor at the University of Konstanz in 1994 . In 1997 he took over the chair for work and organizational psychology in Frankfurt am Main.

Research interests

Zapf's special interests concern bullying and emotional work as a result of demands on the presentation of emotions in the workplace.
