Michael Frese

Michael Frese (born August 9, 1949 in Munich ) is a German psychologist . His research focus is in the field of work and organizational psychology .

education and profession

After studying psychology , Frese worked at the chair for educational and social sciences at the Technical University of Berlin . He received his doctorate in 1978 with a topic on mental disorders in workers. From 1980 onwards, visiting professorships at the University of Bremen and the University of Pennsylvania followed. In 1984 Frese received a professorship for work psychology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1991 to 2009 he held the chair for work and organizational psychology at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen ; from 1995 to 2000 he also held a chair at the University of Amsterdam for which he was temporarily on leave in Giessen. Since 2009 Frese has been Professor of Psychology at Leuphana University Lüneburg and Professor at the National University of Singapore .

As a visiting professor in Kampala , London , Maryland , Michigan and Zhejiang , Frese proved to be an internationally sought-after scientist. In 2013 Michael Frese was elected a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

Frese is married and has two children.

Research interests

Frese conducted research in the field of stress , the world of work and health and human-computer interaction , in particular error management . Current main interests are entrepreneurship and initiative as well as conditions and effects of innovation .
