Dieter von Essen (born July 18, 1962 in Oldenburg ) is a German local politician ( CDU ) and has been the mayor of Rastede since November 1, 2011 .

biography

Working life

Von Essen studied at the Lower Saxony University of Applied Sciences for Administration and Justice in Oldenburg and is a graduate in administration. Von Essen worked for the municipality of Wiefelstede from 1978 to 2011 , where he was most recently head of the Internal Services and Citizens Service Department from 2009 to 2011.

Local politics

Von Essen is a member of the CDU . He has been a member of the Rastede community council since 2001 and was chairman of the CDU parliamentary group there from 2006 to 2011. In January 2011 he was nominated by the CDU for the election of mayor of the municipality of Rastede and received an election recommendation from the FDP. In the mayoral election on September 11, 2011, he was elected with 5531 (54.14%) of the vote and a voter turnout of 60.84%. His predecessor Dieter Decker (CDU) retired after more than 20 years in office on October 31, 2011 at the age of 65.

Private life

Von Essen is married, has three children and lives in Rastede in the Lehmdermoor district . His nephew, Alexander von Essen, was elected as the youngest member of the Rastede council in 2011.
