Dietrich Boldewan (effective 1487–1499, life dates unknown) was mayor of the Hanseatic city of Rostock at the end of the 15th century .

Dietrich Boldewan was one of the outstanding city politicians in Rostock at the time of Rostock Domfehde that broke out on 14 January 1487 because the Jakobikirche was made against the will of the citizens of the Mecklenburg dukes to the cathedral and the new cathedral chapter with the University of Rostock are connected should. He was also directed against the Rostock mayors Barthold Kerkhave and Arndt Hasselbeck , who had allowed the establishment of the collegiate foundation and had to flee the city. The leader of the armed uprising was the Rostock craftsman Hans Runge . On the very first day of the uprising, the new cathedral provost Thomas Rode was murdered by the rebels. The University of Rostock responded with its first move , first to Wismar , then on to Lübeck. In 1489 Dietrich Boldewan read out the indictment against the two escaped mayors. Since the council was no longer fully occupied by other escaped councilors, Hinrich Runge forced the unoccupied council seats to be filled and Dietrich Boldewan became councilor and mayor of Rostock in 1489. He immediately started peace negotiations with the parties to the dispute, which were also mediated by the council of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck under Mayor Heinrich Brömse and led in 1490 to a reconciliation between the old and the new city council. This led to a flare-up of the uprising led by Hinrich Runge, who now also turned against the New Council under Mayor Dietrich Boldewan. On April 14, 1492, this resulted in the arrest of Hinrich Runge and nine of his ringleaders as a counter-reaction. Runge was executed on the same day at the Rostock execution site together with the other ringleader Krückeberg. On May 14, 1492, the dispute between the parties was settled through the mediation of cities in the Wendish quarter of the Hanseatic League under the leadership of Lübeck. Boldewan was still mayor of Rostock in 1499.

His son Heinrich Boldewan was councilor from 1530 and died in 1568 as the mayor of Rostock.
