Dietrich Gökelmann

Dietrich Gökelmann (* 1954 in Tuttlingen ) is a German administrative officer. From March 1, 2012 to March 2, 2020 he was President of the State Office for Saxony .

After his first job as head of the tax office in the city administration of Marbach am Neckar , Gökelmann joined the Baden-Württemberg state administration. First he worked in the office of Prime Minister Lothar Späth , later as a personal advisor to an environment minister and state secretary. After reunification , he took on tasks in the Free State of Saxony , where he took on functions in several ministries and subordinate authorities (Ministry of the Environment, State Office for Environment and Geology), while building the administrative structures. From 1997 he headed the building and housing department in the Dresden regional council . In 2001 he moved to the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior , where he was responsible for various departments one after the other. In 2007 he was appointed head of Department 1 - Central Affairs.

On June 1, 2011, he was introduced to the office of President of the Chemnitz Regional Office and at the same time entrusted with the decay of the presidential offices of the Dresden and Leipzig administrative districts . Since March 1, 2012, he has headed the Saxony State Directorate , which was formed as the higher Saxony state authority by merging the three State Directorates of Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig.
