Dietrich II./IV. (Kleve)

Dietrich II./IV. († 1172 ) was Count of Kleve from 1148/50 to 1172 . While he is referred to in older research as Dietrich II (sometimes also as Dietrich III), in more recent research based on Thomas R. Kraus he is counted as Dietrich IV.

Life

Dietrich II./IV. von Kleve was a son of Count Arnold I and Ida von Brabant . Probably in 1148 or 1149 he took office as Count von Kleve; it is definitely verifiable in 1150.

He was married to Adelheid von Sulzbach († 1189). His successor as Count von Kleve was his son Dietrich III./V. Further children of Dietrich II./IV. were
