Dietrich Lohrmann

Dietrich Lohrmann (born June 9, 1937 in Hagen ) is a German historian .

Life

Dietrich Lohrmann received his doctorate in 1965 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg with a thesis on the register of Pope John VIII and completed his habilitation at the University of Mainz on church property in northern France, property and economy as reflected in the papal privileges of the 11th – 12th centuries. Century. Then he was appointed professor at RWTH Aachen University.

His main research interests are papal history, papal documents, canon law, western European history, agricultural and economic history, technology and science in the Middle Ages as well as older energy history. Lohrmann continues to work for the Historical Institute of RWTH Aachen University in retirement. Together with Thomas Kreft and financially supported by the Association of German Engineers (VDI), Lohrmann published Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Madrid in 2018 as a four-volume annotated edition.

In 2019 Lohrmann was appointed a corresponding member of the VDI.
