Dietrich Luf II of Kleve (* around 1260; † between March 23, 1308 and May 8, 1309) was Count von Hülchrath and Lord of Tomburg .

Life

Dietrich Luf II. Von Kleve was born around 1260 as the son of Count Dietrichs V./VII. Born of Kleve and the Aleidis of Heinsberg . Dietrich Luf was married twice, his second marriage since 1286 to Lisa von Kessel. He fathered at least 13 children, including his successor Dietrich Luf III. , Johannes and Siegfried (both provost of the cathedral in Münster) and Agnes, married to Wikbold von Lohn and Katharina, married to Walram von Kessel . He also had several illegitimate children.

Dietrich Luf II had been endowed with an extensive inheritance of his own by his father and ran a very independent and often against his ruling brother Count Dietrich VI./VIII. Policy directed by Kleve , which was very unfortunate and plunged him into high debt. Among other things, Dietrich Luf II served as a feudal man for the Counts of Geldern and the Archbishops of Cologne . Since 1296 he carried the title of Count von Hülchrath and Lord von Tomburg . In 1298 he sold to his brother Count Dietrich VI./VIII. from Kleve the land of Linn . Dietrich Luf sold his southern properties, especially Tomburg, in 1303 to the Archbishop of Cologne, Wigbold von Holte .
