Johannes Luf von Kleve gen. Von Kervenheim († 1313 ) was provost of the cathedral in the duchy of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

As the son of the noble lord Dietrich Luf von Kleve and Elisabeth von Virneburg, Johannes came from an ancient family of counts in the county of Kleve . He had four siblings: Agnes, married to Wikbold von Lohn , Siegfried (Dompropst), Katharina, married. with Walram von Kessel , and Dietrich (Count von Hülchrath).

Career and work

Johannes was first archdeacon in Vreden, provost of the collegiate monastery of St. Ludgeri and collegial monastery of St. Stephanus in Beckum , before he was introduced to the office of provost of the cathedral in 1310 as Wikbold's successor by Lohn . He resided until 1313 when he lost his life in a dispute with Heinrich II von Korff and his family, who were dependent on the cathedral chapter and raised claims. Alexander von Lüdinghausen became his successor.
