Dietrich Weber

Dietrich Weber (* 26. July 1935 in Rathenow ; † 14. September 2008 ) was a German Germanist and literary scholar .

Born and raised in Havelland, Weber received his doctorate in 1963 from the University of Hamburg . In 1967, he came as a researcher Herbert Singers († 1970) at the University of Cologne , where he in 1974 habilitated . In 1975 Dietrich Weber was appointed professor of general literary studies at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal , where he made great contributions as the founding dean of the linguistic and literary studies department .

In addition to narrative research , the work of the Austrian writer Heimito von Doderer was the focus of his research. Dietrich Weber, who retired in 2000, was an honorary member of the Heimito von Doderer Society , a member of the Wuppertal Center for Narrative Research and one of the main editors of the Wuppertal Writings on General Literary Studies.
