The Dietz Bluff is a striking cliff on the Black Coast of the Palmerland on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises at the head of the Hilton Inlet .

The first aerial photographs were taken in 1940 during the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939-1941) and in 1947 during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948). The United States Geological Survey mapped the cliff using aerial photographs taken by the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it after the American geophysicist and oceanographer Robert S. Dietz (1914–1995), the from 1967 worked at the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Miami .
