Dietz von Thüngen

Dietz Freiherr von Thüngen (born June 1, 1894 in Thüngen ; † October 31, 1973 in Würzburg ) was a German farmer and politician ( German rural people , black-white-red battle front ).

Live and act

Thüngen came from the old Franconian noble family of Thüngen and is genealogically Dietz XII. He was raised as a Protestant and attended grammar school in Schweinfurt until 1909 , then the Knight Academy in Brandenburg Cathedral .

From August 1914, von Thüngen took part in the First World War as a member of the 1st Bavarian Uhlan Regiment in Bamberg . In 1915 he was awarded the Bavarian Cross of Merit with Swords and later the Iron Cross of both classes.

From 1919 to 1922 von Thüngen studied at the universities of Jena and Munich . Then he took over the management of the family estate in Lower Franconia. From 1930 to 1932 he was a member of the Berlin Reichstag as a member of the German rural population . In addition, he was President of the Bavarian Land Association, member of the board of the German Agricultural Society, member of the board of the Bavarian Chamber of Agriculture and member of the working committee of the agricultural district committee of Lower Franconia.

On July 3, 1959, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.
