Dill Katz
David "Dill" Katz (born January 12, 1946 in London ) is a British jazz bassist .
Live and act
Katz's parents were classical musicians; he studied guitar and double bass at the Royal College of Music . In 1962 he became a professional musician, initially playing with Irish show bands and in the studio. In the mid-1970s he was a member of Dave MacRaes band Pacific Eardrum . Between 1978 and 1979 he played with Nucleus , and then worked in Barbara Thompson's band Paraphernalia until 1982 . Then he formed the 20th Century Blues trio with Nic France and pianist Colin Dudman . From 1984 he played again with Nucleus (until the band split up). He was still with Julian BahulasJazz Africa and Brian Abrahams ' District Six . He performs with his own jazz rock quartet.
Katz also works at the Guildhall School of Music and as a music producer.
