Erich Joham (born May 17, 1949 in Hadersdorf am Kamp , Lower Austria ) is an Austrian hairdresser and cult figure, actionist and narrator in Vienna .

Life

Joham did his hairdressing apprenticeship with Adolf Ossig on Stephansplatz , where as an apprentice he was hardly allowed to lay hands on customers. As the employed hairdresser of the famous hairdresser Werner Berndorfer in the 80s in Jasomirgottstraße next to Vienna's Stephansplatz and also in a hairdressing salon in Fürichgasse in Vienna, he developed his style, with many personal customers, and long stays of customers in the salon. At that time, when a good men's haircut was a matter of 5 to 10 minutes, a blatant change and a requirement for the serenity of his audience when everything together usually lasted hours. His trademark is a mix of communication and non-communication, and a good haircut comes with it. A hairdresser, privately and as a public figure. From 1988 self-employed, with the salon ER-ICH in the house at the yellow eagle in the Greek street as a neighbor of the film producer Alexander Schukoff . Cult photographer Günter Parth created a famous portrait of Erich Joham with combs .

On September 4th, 2013 Erich Joham was presented with the Silver Merit of the State of Vienna by the City Councilor for Culture Andreas Mailath-Pokorny in the Vienna City Hall .
