Alexander Schukoff (born August 23, 1956 in Graz ) is an Austrian film director , film producer and video artist .

Life

Alexander Schukoff studied directing at Axel Corti and screenplay at Harald Zusanek at the Film Academy in Vienna and graduated in 1980 from. He worked as a director for various television channels such as ORF , 3sat , BR-alpha and Fashion TV .

In 1981 he developed and produced the MO Music Show for ORF , in which musicians such as Wolfgang Ambros , Falco and Rainhard Fendrich performed. In the music show broadcast in 1982 , Schukoff was already working with short film scenes, as they later became characteristic of music videos and video clips . In 1982 he participated together with Kuno Knöbl and Peter Zurek as part of the OTS ( Orbital Test Satellite ) project of the European Broadcasting Union in the development of a German-language cultural television program for distribution via satellite , which later became the public television program 3sat.

In 1986 he founded the film production company Alexander Schukoff-Film , based in Vienna. Since then, Schukoff has directed and produced documentaries , video clips and short films for television , public institutions, industry and business. The company or Alexander Schukoff is a member of the Association of the Music and Film Industry (FAMA).

As a media artist, he has so far created several video installations in public spaces, such as a live video performance in 2003 in the Vienna Museum of Applied Arts on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Ingeborg Bachmann's death entitled I don't know a better world .

Since 2006, the TV documentaries Russia in Vienna (on behalf of 3sat, Alpha Austria and ORF), Kaffee Express (on behalf of Alpha Austria and BR-alpha ) and Die Wiener have been created in collaboration with the Russian TV journalist and author Nadeschda Tschistjakowa Semmel - a small cultural history (on behalf of ORF). In addition to the television program of the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), these documentaries have meanwhile also been broadcast on 3sat, BR-alpha and international television stations.

Alexander Schukoff has been married to Nadezhda Tschistjakowa since 2007. The couple has one child and lives in Vienna.
