Dimitra Galani

Dimitra Galani ( Greek Δήμητρα Γαλάνη , born November 14, 1952 in Athens ) is a Greek singer .

She grew up in a musical family in Preveza , where her family came from. Her grandfather, who was a cantor, came from Epirus , her father had a vocal training and promoted his daughter's musical training.

In 1968 she made her debut at the age of 16 with two songs on the album "Ena chamogelo" (A Smile) by the composer Dimos Moutsis with texts by Nikos Gatsos . She sang the songs of many important Greek composers, among others she worked with Manos Hatzidakis , Mikis Theodorakis , Vassilis Tsitsanis , Stavros Xarchakos , John Spanos , Manos Loizos , Thanos Mikroutsikos , Vangelis , Dionysis Savvopoulos , Giorgos Chatzinasios , Christodoulos Chalaris , Stamatis Kraounakis . She has released more than eighty albums of various styles, from Greek folk music and light music to popular art songs and Byzantine hymns.

She entered and enters Greece and in other countries at festivals and concerts and sang in 2004 with other singers together in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in Athens . After working primarily as a singer for thirty years, she began to write music for film and television productions herself.
