Dinesh Singh

Rajah Dinesh Singh (born July 19, 1925 in Kalakankar , Uttar Pradesh , † November 30, 1995 in New Delhi ) was an Indian politician of the Indian National Congress (INC), who was a minister several times.

Life

Singh was appointed to a Union government for the first time in 1967 as the Union Minister of Commerce by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi . As part of a cabinet reshuffle, he took over the post of Foreign Minister (Union Minister of External Affairs) on February 14, 1969 as the successor to the Prime Minister and held this position until he was replaced by Sardar Swaran Singh on June 27, 1971. He was still between 1970 and 1971 Minister for Industrial Development and International Trade .

In 1988 Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi first appointed him Minister for Water Resources (Union Minister for Water Resources) in his government, in which he was then again Minister of Commerce from 1988 until the end of Gandhi's tenure on December 2, 1989.

On January 18, 1993, Singh was reappointed Foreign Minister by Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao and held this post until his replacement by Pranab Mukherjee on February 10, 1995.
