Ding Lei (Chinese: 丁磊; pinyin: Dīng Lěi; born October 1, 1971 in Ningbo ), also known as William Ding , is a Chinese billionaire, businessman and founder and CEO of NetEase (163.com). Ding made important contributions to the development of computer networks in the People's Republic of China .

In February 2019, Thing's net worth was estimated at $ 13.8 billion. In 2018, he was ranked 69th in the ranking of the richest people in the world.

Life

Ding Lei was born in Fenghua (Ningbo) in Zhejiang Province . He graduated from the Chengdu Institute of Radio Engineering (now the University of Electronic Science and Technology in China ) and received a bachelor's degree . After graduating, he worked as an engineer for the Ningbo City Government, then went to Guangzhou and worked for Sybase . In 1997 he founded NetEase. The company develops and operates online PC and mobile games, advertising services, e-mail services and online trading. In 2003, he briefly became the richest man in mainland China and was one of the first billionaires in the People's Republic of China.

In 2012 the company expanded into pork production . Pig farming focuses on modern agricultural technology and environmental sustainability, but is not intended to become an important part of the company.

In late 2016, Ding was looking into real estate investments and traveled to Zimbabwe and the UK in December .

Ding has residences in Hangzhou and Guangzhou. He has been married to Wang Xunfang since 2006.
